Persuasive Essay Topics - How To Learn From Graffiti
Persuasive Essay Topics - How To Learn From GraffitiAs a writing instructor, I have taught hundreds of persuasive essays. It's no secret that persuasive essay topics often come from the graffiti on a wall in the streets. This is because most people are much more familiar with graffiti than with writing. You would think that if you're a writer, a person who writes for a living, that you would have the perfect persuasive essay topic on the tip of your tongue. And yet, the fact remains that no one can have the perfect essay topic. No matter how long you've been writing and no matter how great you think you are, nothing will compare to the graffiti of experience. There is no shortage of different persuasive essay topics on the internet or in books. Some are easy to use, some are time-consuming and some require extensive research. When you start researching persuasive essay topics, it's a good idea to go directly to the source and read the graffiti. Read graffiti like a 'Greaser' reads stree t literature: in the streets. Read the graffiti you see, read the words people are saying and think about how they say it. What words or phrases are they using? To illustrate, let's say you're reading a popular site on street graffiti. Go to the first graffiti and read the phrase 'S.I.N. FU.' This is a slang term that is commonly used by graffiti writers.Graffiti is messy and it's tough to decipher what someone is saying. However, you can narrow down the words by putting together words that are repeated in that graffiti. For example, you might find out that the graffiti is using the words 'SLIME'FU'. Or, if you read 'SLIMEFU' the second time, you could see that it looks like 'SLIMEFU' (it may be a lower case letter). The street writer may even use the more obscure words that you won't find in the dictionary. It is a skill to be able to decipher these words. So do not be afraid to turn to the graffiti. When you do this, you will not only gain a better understanding of persuasive essay t opics, but you will also benefit from the colorful world of graffiti writing. You can look at what others have written and take notes, then use that information as you write your own essay.
